Last month, my wife and I spent a week in Tulum, Mexico. It's a beautiful, fun beach town just two hours away from Cancun by bus. When I was deciding what gear to take, I chose to keep it light and stick with a wide angle, a 50mm prime, and my Nexus 6p.
I had a pretty fun time shooting with my 50mm on my Nikon D7100 and thought I'd put together a gallery to reference. I promise more photos with my Nexus 6p and wide angle soon!
When I was first learning photography, I spent a lot of time using my 50mm lens. So, I like the simple feel of shooting with a prime for an extended period of time. It's lightweight and forces me to move to find the right distance and angle for shots.
One of my favorite parts about carrying my 50mm is being discrete compared to carrying a bigger zoom lens. You can hang out on a corner or find some shade and grab nice frames when people look away.
